You don't necessarily have to ski to experience the adrenaline in Gulmarg's snowy mountains. For non-skiers, families, and anyone wishing to explore Gulmarg at a slow pace, we organize guided tours on motorized snow vehicles and rides on classic wooden sleds right from the valley base.
Snowmobiling (Snow Bikes)
Our guided snowmobile excursions allow you to power through the snow-covered pine forests and vast meadows of Gulmarg.
The Experience: Ride powerful winter snowmobiles operated by trained local guides. Depending on your comfort level, you can ride as a passenger or take the handlebars for guided self-drive segments on open snowy trails.
Where It Happens: Designated snow tracks near the main Gondola base station and the outer golf course rim.
Cost Estimate: ₹1,500 – ₹2,500 for short scenic rides (15–20 minutes); ₹2,500 – ₹4,000 for standard guided routes (30+ minutes).
ATV Rides on Snow
Quad biking offers a rugged, all-terrain way to explore the mountain trails that branch out from Gulmarg's main valley. Equipped with heavy-duty tires, these four-wheelers handle packed snow and uneven trails with ease.
The Experience: Navigate a 13-kilometer scenic circuit with a mix of guided riding and safe self-drive stretches. It's an excellent group activity that gets you out of the crowded resort center and into quieter alpine territory.
Where It Happens: Off-road trails stretching from the Gulmarg market toward Strawberry Valley and the lower Kongdoori trekking routes.
Cost Estimate: ₹1,500 – ₹2,500 depending on the route distance (typically 45 to 60 minutes).
Kashmiri Sledging
Sledging is the oldest and most popular winter activity in Gulmarg. It requires zero technical skill, making it the perfect low-effort, high-reward activity for families, children, and couples looking to play in the snow.
The Experience: Sit back on a classic flat wooden sledge while an experienced local handler safely guides and pulls you across the snow. For a bigger thrill, you can take a 7-kilometer downhill jungle ride starting from Phase 1 Kongdoori all the way back to the Gulmarg base.
Where It Happens: Everywhere in the valley,from the beginner nursery slopes to the Gondola base and Phase 1 descents.
Cost Estimate: ₹500 – ₹1,000 for standard meadow rides; up to ₹2,500 for extended full-sightseeing tours (fishing lake, St. Mary's Church, and downhill runs).
