Ski Touring In Gulmarg
Why Gulmarg Ski Resort is a Ski Touring Destination?
Perched at the very top, Gulmarg sits on the rim of the Kashmir Valley in the Pir Panjal range of the mighty Himalayas. With the “World’s Highest Gondola” and a skiable vertical of 2000 meters, Gulmarg has become one of the world’s must-visit destinations for adventurous skiers and boarders.
With Gondola rises in two stages to an elevation of 4000 meters. During big storms, the huge pines from the mid-station offer great protected tree lines, while the options off the top are endless. High up the laps and a hike to the summit, exploration of the northern slopes, and the drop off the ridge to remote mountain villages is an exhilarating experience.

Gulmarg to Mary’s shoulder
For unavoidable reasons such as bad weathers ot technical issues with the Gondola, if the chairlift and gondola is non-functional, one can ski tour from Gulmarg to Mary’s shoulder perched right next to the chairlift.
It takes 2 and half hour from Gulmarg to Mary’s shoulder. You can start ski touring at 9:30 a.m and return to Gulmarg by 12:30 p.m.
Affarwat to Sharkfin
Gondola opens at 9 a.m and clients usually choose to ski 1-2 runs in Gondola chairlift. Then around 11 a.m, they ski tour from Affarwat to Sharkin.
It takes about 45 min to 1 hour to reach Sharkfin. It is about 400-600 meters long run and 35-60 degree steep.
From there, you can ski tio Khilanmarg top and then ski back to Gulmarg.
Gulmarg to Khilanmarg
This is recommened to clients, who like to ski tour but doesn’t like deep powder.
You can start at 10 a.m and reach Khilanmarg at 12:30 p.m.
It takes about 30 minutes to return ro Gulmarg and one can ski between the tall alpines with mesmerizing views.
Backcountry ski touring
Affarwat (G4) – Lianmarg – Boothapathri – Gulmarg
It takes about 7 hours.
Affarwat – Sharkfin – Snow Leopard Face – Gulmarg
It takes about 4 hours.
Gulmarg – Drung Ridge – Drung Valley – Tanmarg
It takes about 2 hours
