    Gondola In Gulmarg

    Gulmarg Gondola in Gulmarg, Jammu, and Kashmir (an administered Union Territory of India) is the second longest and the second-highest cable car in the world. 

    It is the top tourist attraction in Gulmarg and a tour to Gulmarg without a Gondola ride is considered incomplete.

    The Gulmarg Gondola is a two-stage gondola lift that ferries about 600 people per hour to and fro Kongdoori Mountain, a shoulder of nearby Affarwat Peak at 4,260 m.

     

    Gondola Cable Car Ride Levels:

     

    The Cable car ride takes place in two levels/stages

     

    Phase I

     

    The first stage transfers from the Gulmarg resort at 2,650 m to Kongdoori Station in the bowl-shaped Kongdoori valley. 

    This takes about 9 minutes to reach.

     

    Phase II

     

    The second stage of the ropeway, which has 36 cabins and 18 towers, takes tourists and skiers to a height of 3,980 m on Kongdoori Mountain. 

    This takes about 12 minutes in total to reach Affarwat.

     

    The tickets to Gulmarg Gondola are sold solely on the Jammu & Kashmir Cable Car Corporation website.

     

    Timings of Gulmarg Gondola:

     

    Gulmarg to Kongdoori (Phase I): 9 a.m – 5 p.m

    Kongdoori to Affarwat (Phase II): 9 a.m – 3:30 p.m

    The running of the Gondola is highly dependent upon the weather conditions in both stages.

     

    Ticket prices for Gulmarg Gondola:

     

    Gulmarg to Kongdoori (Phase I): Rs 810 ($10)

    Kongdoori to Affarwat (Phase II): Rs 1000 ($12)

    In the third phase of the Gulmarg Gondola Project, 90 chairlifts were installed in 2011. The chairlift connects Kongdoori to Mary’s Shoulder popular among skiers. 

    It takes about 11 minutes for the chairlift to go from one point to the other.

    ATV Rides In Gulmarg

    ATV ride in Gulmarg is truly a thrilling experience. An all-terrain vehicle (ATV), also known as a light utility vehicle (LUV) a quad bike, or simply quad is a vehicle that travels on low-pressure tires, has a seat that is straddled by the operator, and has handlebars. As the name implies, it is designed to handle a wider variety of terrain than most other vehicles.

    ATV ride from Gulmarg to Kongdori

     

    It is a 13 km circuit that starts from Gulmarg to Kongdori. The ride transits through the tall pines in the forest and offers a mesmerizing view of the Gulmarg meadow. 

     

    The track is an off-beaten road and takes about 1 and a half hours to complete. The passenger in the ATV is accompanied by an ATV operator at all times. 

     

    Self-drive of the ATV is also allowed under the supervision of an operator.

     

    ATV ride around Gulmarg

     

    The circuit is about 13 km and offers a ride around the Gulmarg meadows. The ride covers prominent tourist attractions such as Children’s Park, Golf Course, strawberry valley, etc. 

     

    It takes about 1 and a half hours to complete the ride and the tourist is accompanied by an ATV operator at all times. One can also self-drive under the supervision of the ATV operator.

     

    ATV ride from Tangmarg to Drung waterfall

     

    The circuit covers a distance of 14 km from Tangmarg (12 km away from Gulmarg) towards Drung waterfall. 

     

    The ride takes about 1 hour and is accompanied by an ATV operator at all times. One can also self-drive under the supervision of the ATV operator.
