Drung is a small village on the road to Gulmarg barely 3.5 km away from Tanmarg town and almost 42 km fro Srinagar. It is famous for its waterfalls, caves, an ancient temple, Ferozpora Nallah, and a small hydropower plant. The village is sparsely population and one can get a glimpse of the old architectures in the village. The people are kind and curious. Activities around Drung is still organically pursued and hence to preserve their customs and traditions, the tag of an eco-village became necessary.
Summer and winter are both great times to visit the location because it is open year-around and looks stunning regardless of the weather. During summer, tourists and the locals visit Drung to go horseback riding, seeing fast-flow streams, waterfalls, caves and an ancient Hindu temple that is just few steps away from the waterfall and is believed to have been built by the Pandavas.During winter, Drung’s frozen waterfall is the most popular site. One can make a day trip out of it. It is a man-made waterfall created by the powerhouse’s water exit channel.
Sranz remains an unexplored tourist destination despite its potential to attract tourists because of it scenic beauty. The waterfall is located in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district about 5 km from the well known Baba Reshi Shrine. The Sranz waterfall situated in a bowl-shaped valley surrounded by lush green forests, open meadows, landscapes and mountains is a perfect getaway for adventure lovers. The untamed roads allows one to walk through the scenic views towards the waterfall; evidently well worth all the efforts. It originates form the Affarwat mountains and the Alpather lake in Gulmarg.
One of the many unexplored regions of Jammu and Kashmir, Botha Pathri is a mystery of a place in itself. The tourist spot in Jammu and Kashmir, also known as Nagin Valley had been set open by the Tourism Department in May 2012. The destination had been closed to the visitors for over a period of 22 years. Botha Pathri is a lush meadow that is located at a distance of 10 km from Gulmarg and about 5 km for the LOC under the Affarwat range in Western Kashmir. It is nestled in the beautiful Nagin Valley of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Botha Pathri is the only place in Kashmir for camping that is accessible by road. The pristine location and its fast-flowing streams offer a perfect getaway. It is part of the Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve and the area is popular for its blue pines, deodars, lush alpine meadow, and animals such as musk deer, leopards, red fox, hangul (Kashmiri stag), and others. The climate is quite wet which results in lovely blooms all year round. Horse riding is a popular activity in Botha Pathri. One can also visit the Shrine cradled in the heart of the meadows of Botha Pathri.
Situated about 9,000 ft above sea level, the mist-shrouded meadows of Botapathri were favorites among trekkers before 1990.

The Gulmarg Gondola is the World’s Second Highest Gondola in the world at a height of 4,200 meters that connects Gulmarg Ski Resort to Kongdori Valley and upwards again to Affarwat Peak. Other summer activities include sightseeing at famous historical places, horse riding, ATV rides, trekking, camping, etc.

By Air
The nearest airport to Gulmarg is Srinagar which is 56 kilometers away. The airport is well connected with major cities and flies regularly from cities such as Jammu, Delhi, Mumbai, and Amritsar.
Once outside, you can hire a prepaid cab which will cost you around 2500 one-way from Srinagar to Gulmarg. It is a 2-hour drive with the most magnificent view once you get close to Tanmarg. Shared taxis are also available that costs less.
By Train
The nearest railway station to Gulmarg is Jammu which is 303 kilometers away. Jammu railway station is well connected to most of the railheads in major Indian cities. Some of the popular trains that run to Jammu are Jammu Rajdhani, Himgiri Express, Swarak Express, Andaman Express, and Himsagar Express connecting the farthest railhead in Trivandrum city. Once in Jammu, you can hire a prepaid cab directly to Gulmarg, or take a shared taxi to Srinagar and hire another cab to Gulmarg. It can be tiring but a great story to tell.
By Road
Gulmarg is easily connected to the major cities of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and a few cities of Himachal Pradesh. Direct buses are also available from Delhi to Gulmarg. This includes both Government and private deluxe and luxury buses. Srinagar to Gulmarg is a 2-hour drive of 60 km. The view is spectacular. So you definitely don’t wanna miss that.

Gulmarg Ski Resort’s lifted terrain is divided into 4 separate skiing zones.
There are 7 poma lifts around Gulmarg. These are beginners slopes and is often crowded. The snow is groomed regularly.
Accessible by Gondola. The Gondola reaches Kongdori at 3,050 metres. It has 400 vertical meters of almost flattish, naturally graded terrain. With 2-3 days of beginners skiing and snowboarding course, you’ll be confident to ride Phase 1.
For advanced riders and expert skiers, the chair lift (500-900 meters vertical rise) provides off-piste fun and takes you down straight to the gondola via narrow trails that is usually groomed to facilitate return.
Accessed by Gondola (Phase 2). Bowls stream off the main ridgeline north and south of Mt Apharwat (4,200 metres). It has 900-1500 vertical metres. To the south, the spurs and bowls runs east towards Drung Valley. To the north, it gets very close to Pakistan.
Many lines to the extreme north is rarely skied. Ski-touring, hiking a few kilometers even with access via gondola is common.
